How long does it take you to track drums ?
Depending on the number of songs I am asked to record, and if I am also tracking percussion parts, it usually takes no more than 1 or 2 days to track a full album's worth of songs. I have on many occasions recorded 10 songs in a 12-hour studio day. I love swapping out snare drums and cymbals and other sonic effects to customize the drum sound on each of your songs.
I'm not a songwriter, can you help me ?
Absolutely! I have helped many artists create new material for their releases, in fact many artists have had their greatest hits penned by outside professionals. Face to face, skype-on-skype or in writer retreats nationally or internationally. I house a stable of 50+ songwriters from around the globe, covering all styles and disciplines, publishing our collective work under the RTTM/Universal label.
What styles do you work on ?
As a New York based record producer and drummer, I have had the great privilege of working with many unique artists in many different styles, recording Pop anthems, R&B cuts, Hip-hop joints, Funk radio-pumpers and Rock hits. I've covered Salsa, Merengue, Reggaeton, Big Band, and Jazz ensembles big and small. I've tracked Folk and Singer-songwriter spins, Punk speed-jams to EMO bust-outs.
Do you only work in New York City ?
Although New York is where my activities as a record producer and drummer are centered, I am always open to working on projects in other locations. I maintain a lot of close relationships with studios in Canada, France, Spain, Israel, and Japan, as well as in most major cities across the USA. FYI, I do speak French, Spanish, and Hebrew well enough to work fully immersed in these environments... Vamos! On y va! Kadima!
How long does it take to produce a full album ?
There are many things that go into determining how long it takes to produce a 10 to 12 song album: have all the songs for the album already been written? Are we programming the music, or will we use live musicians? Does the artist have studio-experience or not? But as a general rule of thumb, to track an album of true quality and promise, it's a good idea to plan on between 20 to 40 studio days.
