UK Times : My 3 Months in Bournemouth

June 20, 2014

10 things I learned during my 3 months in the south of England in the coastal town of Bournemouth, while producing artist Darren Hodson & The Southern Companion's new album "1000 Days of Rain" :

  • England has beaches. England gets sunshine. Combining both can be a challenge.

  • Sainsbury's, if left unchecked, will eventually kill you.

  • Bangers & Mash is deadly addictive.  So is Sheppard's Pie.  Sheesh. And let's not even start in with the Cadbury's aisle ...

  • The Royal Bath delivers.

  • UK medical clinics treat foreigners like pub buddies. And lancing has been replaced with Boots pharma.

  • Left-hand stick is easier than the manual would have you believe.

  • Southern Rail is a walk in the park. London tube can get dicey.

  • Brits really really seem to like Canadian Maple Leaf cookies,.

  • 7 times out of 10, I have no idea what anyone is saying.  I don't speak English.

  • All studio recording activities come to a grinding halt during football matches... and World Cup, well, never mind...
